EAHL LICENCE 4 COURSE
The EAHL Licence 4 Course course covers the skills and knowledge required to recover, reclaim, fill and recycle Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) & Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGG) from fire extinguishers and gaseous fire extinguishing system containers, covered by Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (EAHL) Licence 4.
The course includes three (3) units of competency. These units, in addition to the three (3) units contained in the EAHL – Common Units Course, are required to apply for an EAHL Licence 4.
Who’s it for?
The EAHL Licence 4 Course course is for anyone who performs work to recover, reclaim, fill and recycle extinguishing agents which are Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) or Synthetic Greenhouse Gases (SGG). This includes transferring agent into and from a fire extinguisher and gaseous fire extinguishing system container from and to a bulk agent container.
Experienced technicians can use the course to build upon existing skills and knowledge and validate competency.
Are there any special requirements needed to take this course?
- Participants must be employed in the fire industry and work under the supervision of an EAHL Licence holder.
- Participants require access to a personal computer or tablet and have basic computer skills to enable use of the on-line learning system.
COURSE INFORMATION
The course provides participants with the skills and knowledge to recover, reclaim, fill and recycle ODS or SGG extinguishing agents.
The following areas are included:
- Five-yearly inspection, testing and preventive maintenance of fire extinguishers, including recharging and pressure testing
- Documentation and reporting of results
- Working safely including identifying hazards and risks associated with testing and filling containers.
- Safely receive, dispatch, classify and dispatch containers storing ODS and SGG extinguishing agents.
- Use of processing equipment to recover, reclaim and fill ODS and SGG extinguishing agents
- Provides the skills and knowledge required to recover, reclaim, fill and recycle ODS or SGG extinguishing agents from fire extinguishers and gaseous fire extinguishing system containers.
- Completion of this course, plus the EAHL – Common Units course, will satisfy the application requirements to attain an EAHL Licence 4.
- The course is self-paced and typically takes 3 months to complete.
- Participants are required to complete the course within 6 months of enrolling
- The course is delivered using a blended model of learning which includes comprehensive online training, supported by workplace-based learning in the field.
- Participants are supported throughout the learning process by our industry experts.
The course includes three (3) units of competency. These units, in addition to the three (3) units contained in the EAHL – Common Units Course, are required to apply for an EAHL Licence 4.
Some of the units in this course are also included in other EAHL Licences. To avoid duplicating units, if you need multiple EAHL Licences, or licencing or accreditation for other fire industry job roles, please get in touch and we will develop a custom plan specific to your needs.

This course can be completed at the same time as undertaking the EAHL – Common Units Course or other EAHL Licence courses.
The units in this course can be used as credit towards completion of a Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing Inspection and Testing
- If you already have experience, participants can choose to undertake this course via a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway, to have their existing skills and knowledge recognised without having to undertake formal training.
- The RPL Pathway allows you to proceed directly to the assessment stage of the course. However, we support you with full access to all training material to allow you to top up or refresh your existing skills and knowledge prior to attempting the assessments.
- To be eligible for RPL, you should have a least 12 months fire industry experience
