This course covers the core skills and knowledge required to undertake fire safety assessment of emergency planning procedures. It includes unit PUAFER003.
Who’s it for?
This course forms part of the requirements needed by fire safety assessors to apply or transition to qualified accreditation as prescribed in Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) for emergency planning procedures.
This course is for individuals who hold a certificate II or higher qualification in engineering, construction, plumbing, electrical, fire safety or property services.
To apply for accreditation, participants will also need to complete the FPAS Fire Safety Assessment Common Units Course.
Are there any special requirements needed to take this course?
- Participants must have access to a facility with an established emergency plan that is at least 12 months old.
- Participants require access to a personal computer or tablet and have basic computer skills to enable use of the on-line learning system.


COURSE INFORMATION
The course provides participants with the foundation skills and knowledge to perform fire safety assessment of emergency planning procedures. It covers:
- Developing emergency plans and procedures
- Manage emergency control equipment
- Monitor and review emergency plans
- Achieve one of the requirements to apply for FPAS Fire Safety Assessment qualified accreditation for emergency planning procedures.
- Attain skills and knowledge to complete fire safety assessment of emergency planning procedures.
- The course is self-paced and typically takes 3 months to complete.
- Participants are required to complete the course within 6 months of enrolling.
- The course is delivered in the workplace via a distance-based delivery model and supported by an online learning system.
- Participants are supported throughout the learning process by our industry experts.
- The course forms part of the requirements needed by fire safety assessors to apply for, or transition to, qualified accreditation as prescribed in Fire Protection Accreditation Scheme (FPAS) for emergency planning procedures.
- To apply for FSA accreditation for emergency planning procures, participants will also need to complete:
- The FPAS Fire Safety Assessment Common Units Course; and
- Hold a certificate II or higher qualification in engineering, construction, plumbing, electrical, fire safety or property services.

- Training for this course is delivered in the workplace via self-paced learning. This method allows participants to choose how much training they undertake prior to assessment.
- Experienced individuals can enrol in a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway.
- RPL allows you to proceed directly to assessment, however access to the Learning Materials is also provided. This allows you to refresh your existing skills and knowledge prior to attempting the assessments.
